#iGiveCatholic

Seven Dolors is participating in #iGiveCatholic!  All funds raised will go towards the Religious Education and CYO programs at Seven Dolors which will help to purchase resources, fund training, and create a welcome space for our youth. Early giving began Monday, November 12 and runs through Giving Tuesday on November 27.

MATCHING GIFT:  Generous donors from our diocese have created a $50,000 match pool for the diocese. Because of this, every gift to Seven Dolors via #iGive Catholic, up to $1000 per donor, will be matched $1 for $1, until the funds are used. Your gift will be doubled as long as there is money in the pool.

TO DONATE:  Click the “Donate Now” button below or or go to: https://salina.igivecatholic.org/organizations/seven-dolors-of-the-blessed-virgin-mary-parish

Also a huge thanks to Katy Benne who led the congregation in the litany of saints!

Last, but not least, Thank you to our Priests: Fr Kerry Ninemire, Fr Carlos Ruiz-Santos, and Fr Merlin Kieffer for their guidance during this time of waiting.

Finally, Thank you to our Parishioners!! Without you, this dream would not have become a reality!

Element Highlight

Starting this week, we will attempt to highlight a different element of the newly renovated church and tell you a little bit about its history and meaning.

This week’s selection is the crucifix that can be seen above the tabernacle. Fr Kerry shared with the Eucharistic Minsters that this particular crucifix has ties to not only Seven Dolors, but also a particular parishioner.

Dale Anderson was a young boy and in charge of carrying the processional cross into the church at the beginning of Mass each week. This cross was used since the church opened in 1920! Dale said that he also carried it during the ceremony of the laying of Luckey building’s corner stone with Monsignor Luckey. When the renovations began in 1968 and a new cross was selected to use for the processionals, Dale saved this one. He had the corpus re-silvered and the cross polished and it was kept at the Anderson home until he donated it back to the church when we began our renovations.

Thank you to Dale for all of his hard work locating original items and donating those he had to our project!

A NEW RCIA

At Seven Dolors, we have a year-round RCIA process, which means you may contact us at any time you are called to join us in your journey of faith. We ask that you make an initial meeting with the RCIA Director to discuss the process and what it would look like for you personally. The process is an experience of community including weekly sessions on Sunday mornings and various liturgical experiences. Each weekly session includes prayer, formal instruction, small group discussion, and a time fellowship. For further Information, contact Rosie at the Parish Office  785-565-5000.
